Getting Under the Skin

GETTING UNDER THE SKIN
An Exhibition at the Westminster Arts Reference Library by Field & Young
Now part of the permanent collection / Free admission

In December 2021, taxidermy artists Field & Young created ten famous art pieces reimagined as taxidermy tableaux. From the Baroque period of Caravaggio to the surrealist paintings of Magritte to the graffiti art of Banksy, Getting Under the Skin playfully reflects the Library’s vast art and design collection which is listed of outstanding national significance.

Please note, all animals have come from ethical sources and nothing has been killed for the purpose of taxidermy. Degas’s ballerina squirrels, for example, were roadkill collected from the A13 and Magritte’s fox was found at the side of Clapham Common one wintry night in December. The taxidermy log book of how each animal was sourced will be on display as part of the exhibition.
